Now more than ever, you are probably wondering what more you can do to bring in new business for the remainder of the year.  One way to improve your business success is to make sure your website is doing all that it can to generate inbound leads.
 
Does your company's website show up in search results when prospects search the internet for your product or service and how far down in the results does your firm place?
 
To receive the most traffic to your website, you want your listing as close to the top of the first page as possible.
 
A recent Jupiter Research study found that 68% of search engine users click on listings that make the first page of results, and only 8% go beyond the first three pages of results.

In addition, the study found that 39% of searchers consider companies who are featured among the top natural search results to be leaders in their field. 

So how do you make it onto that first page?
 
Tip 1:  Edit or rewrite your page content and body copy to incorporate popular keywords or phrases a potential customer would use to find your firm.
 
Tip 2:  Engage in paid keyword search for your targeted keywords. If you appear high up in both paid and organic search together, and your competitor doesn't, searchers will see that and click more frequently on your organic listing. This can be a bit tricky, so hire a pro to achieve better results and more optimized pay-per-click.
 
Tip 3
Make your content sharable. From bookmarks to buttons to widgets, there are a variety of options to include with your content that allow users to independently spread your good word to alternate Web venues, such as blogs and social-networking sites.
 
Tip 4: Strategically target sites that are relevant to your business, industry, vertical, or niche. To gain rank on the search engines, it's important to link to not only quality (non-spamming) sites and blogs but also those considered "right" for your site: i.e., those that will benefit your end users.
 
Tip 5:
Use social media to get the word out and drive traffic to your site. Don't just post your new content to your site, also promote its existence through linked posts on networks such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
 
Tip 6: Launch a blog and update it regularly with interesting, keyword-rich posts. Google loves blogs.
 
Tip 7
: Update Content regularly. Be sure to keep your content fresh and up-to-date.  Many websites have not been touched  in years.
